4 BENEFITS OF MARTIAL ARTS
There are many benefits of martial arts, but here are some of the most important ones to learn!
Self-defense
Karate is a great way to learn how to defend yourself. Martial arts teach you the techniques to defend yourself, but also the way to think about defending yourself – anticipate and avoid potential dangers. Martial arts primarily focus on self-defense rather than self-promotion, humility rather than bravado.
Discipline
In many martial arts traditions, students of all ages must show bowing to their instructor as well as other students. Such a simple gesture sets the tone for what’s in store. It serves as a reminder to all students that martial arts requires focus, respect, and self-restraint.
Fitness
Kids stay active while they are learning skills. Youth sports and physical education programs are great for physical development. Karate offers many benefits, but when it comes to fitness, becoming a true martial artist means becoming a very fit and healthy person.
Confidence
My favorite thing as a martial arts instructor is watching a shy, introverted student start to grow and feel better about themselves because of the confidence that martial arts help to develop. It does this because students learn and develop skills, and as they improve these skills they receive praise and recognition. While team sports develop physical fitness and social skills, martial arts takes character development to a new level. A good martial arts program will focus on qualities such as respect, integrity, perseverance, courage, discipline, self-control, humility and kindness.
